Ad serving is a misnomer and has basically been used by trouble makers like Zedo and adware look2me who basically sell by means of Pop ups on the sites of web publishers who are their main source of revenues. They drive no revenues from the visitors to the web sites. On the other hand there are Advertising Agents who place the advertising by the businesses who wish to promote their businesses by placing their ads on the websites that have a steady stream of visitors with the hope that the visitors to these sites will buy the products or services. Until most recently the businesses bid on the keywords listed by the search engines. The ads with the highest bids are placed on the sites with highest traffic volume. The ads with the lower bids are placed on the sites with light to to very low volume. It generally meets their needs because they have very low advertising budget from $25 a month to a few hundred dollars a month. The bigger advertising agents share the ad revenues generated by placing the ads on the web sites according to a formula that depends upon the volume generated by the web site. The highest traffic volume websites can ask their own share and get it. The lower traffic volume sites will get from very low share of as much as 5% of the ad revenues to a moderate share generally no more than 20% of the Ad revenues. Smaller Advertising agents generally share the ad revenues with the Web publishers on 50 50 basis. 50% of the ad revenues is the highest a web publisher can expect unless it is site with traffic volume of millions of page views daily. As sted before they can set their own share. Recently a new form of advertising has been established. In this form of advertising an advertiser bys pixels at a pixel site and his ad is placed in his pixel space by the publisher of Pixel Site. The minimum pixel purchase is 10x10=100 pixel. The pixels are sold at one dollar per pixel. The pixels have a life of five years. the draw back is that the pixel siteowner is under no obligation to promote his pixel site. Hence a new arrangement is being adopted by the pixel site publisher. The advertisers rent the pixels o monthto month basis. If the publisher does not promote the site the advertiser does not rent the pixels any more. the minimum pixels that must be rented are 25x10=250 pixels. The pixels rent for one cent per pixel per month so the 250 pixels would rent for only $2.50 for a month. A business can rent a reasonable sized pixel cell 100x30=3000 pixels for only $30 for a month. These pixel sites are not represented by any advetising agent or ad server. The advertiser must look for a pixel site by searching the keywords like Pixels, Pixelcraze, Pixelmania, pixelshomepage, pixels homepage, pixelblogs, new era wisp, million dollar pixels, dollar pixels.
