    AIM Mail is a webmail service provided by AOL. Its main competitors are Gmail, MSN Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. The "AIM" in the name stands for AOL Instant Messenger, AOL's instant messaging program.

    AOL purchased MailBlocks on August 4, 2004, to add an application-like web interface to its AOL Mail service. This interface is also showcased in AIM Mail.

    AIM Mail has the following features available at no cost:

      2 GB quota
      16 MB attachments
      Spell checking
      Integration with AIM presence
      Message unsend capability (provided the message is sent to another AOL or AIM mailbox).

    Advertising is displayed while working with the e-mail account. Users can also read and send mail using IMAP capable clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Apple Mail.
